Two Factor Authentication: DUO Mobile User Guide

Updated over 3 weeks ago

What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication is a security process that provides an additional layer of protection for your account beyond just a username and password. This is done by requiring users to provide an additional factor/method to verify their identity.

What additional factor/method does Suralink use?

Suralink utilizes mobile authentication using authenticator apps on your mobile device. Suralink supports Google Authenticator, LastPass, Microsoft, Duo, and Authy.

How to set up two-factor authentication via DUO Mobile

  1. Log in to Suralink and select My Account in the footer of the page

  1. On the left side of the page, select “Two-factor”

  1. Search in the App store (iPhone) or Play Store (Android) for “DUO Mobile” and select to install the app. Currently, the logo looks like this.

  1. Click “Set up account” and “Use a QR code” so the app is ready to pair with Suralink.

  1. In Suralink, click “Next Step.”

  1. Scan the QR code from your Suralink page.

  1. In DUO Mobile, click Next and Next, then name your account. We recommend “Suralink” but you can also have it as your email address. Then press “Save”

  1. DUO Mobile will now have 6 digit code.

  1. Back in Suralink, click “Next Step”

  1. Enter the code that DUO Mobile is generating into the box and click “Complete authentication”

  1. You will receive a green message telling you the authenticator was set up successfully.

  1. When logging into Suralink, you will now be prompted to provide a 6 digit passcode after entering your username and password. Enter the code generated by the authenticator.
