Two Factor Authentication: Microsoft Authenticator User Guide

Updated over 3 weeks ago

What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication is a security process that provides an additional layer
of protection for your account beyond just a username and password. This is
done by requiring users to provide an additional factor/method to verify their
identity.

What additional factor/method does Suralink use?

Suralink utilizes mobile authentication using authenticator apps on your mobile
device. Suralink supports Microsoft Authenticator, LastPass, Microsoft, Duo, and
Authy.

How to set up two-factor authentication via MicrosoftAuthenticator:

1. Log in to Suralink and select My Account in the footer of the page

2. On the left side of the page, select “Two-factor”

3. Search in the App Store (iPhone) or Play Store (Android) for “Microsoft Authenticator” and select to install the app. Currently, the logo looks like this.

4. Follow any on-screen instructions to set up Microsoft Authenticator on your device.

5. Click “Add account” and select “Work or school account” and “Scan a QR code”

6. In Suralink, click “Next Step.”

7. Scan the QR code from your Suralink page.

8. Microsoft Authenticator will now have a Suralink entry that you can click into to access a 6-digit code.

9. Back in Suralink, click “Next Step”

10. Enter the code that Microsoft Authenticator is generating into the box and click “Complete authentication”

11. You will receive a green message telling you the authenticator was set up successfully.

12. When logging into Suralink, you will now be prompted to provide a 6-digit passcode after entering your username and password. Enter the code generated by the authenticator.
