Two Factor Authentication: Authenticator with Authy User Guide

Updated over 3 weeks ago

What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication is a security process that provides an additional layer of protection for your account beyond just a username and password. This is done by requiring users to provide an additional factor/method to verify their identity.

What additional factor/method does Suralink use?

Suralink utilizes mobile authentication using authenticator apps on your mobile device. Suralink supports Google Authenticator, LastPass, Microsoft, Duo, and Authy.

How to set up two-factor authentication via Authy

  1. Log in to Suralink and select My Account in the footer of the page

  1. On the left side of the page, select “Two-factor”

  1. Search in the App Store (Iphone) or Play Store (Android) for “Authy” and select to install Twilio Authy Authenticator.

  1. Follow the on screen instructions to set up Authy on your device.

(Please Note: The phone number you set this up with will only be used to verify your Authy account. The Suralink code will not be sent via text or phone call.)

  1. Click the plus sign so Authy is ready to pair with Suralink.

  1. Since you’ve already downloaded Authy, click “Next Step.”

  1. Scan the QR code from your Suralink page.

  1. Name the account (we recommend “Suralink” but you can also use your email.) Then, click Save.

  1. The Authy app will then generate a code.

  1. Back in Suralink, click “Next Step”

  1. Enter the code that Authy is generating into the box and click “Complete authentication”

  1. You will receive a green message telling you the authenticator was set up successfully.

  1. When logging into Suralink, you will now be prompted to provide a 6-digit passcode after entering your username and password. Enter the code generated by Authy.
